Haier Monoblock
* Outdoor Replacement of old for new.

Choosing a hot water system requires a balance of installation ease, winter performance, energy efficiency, operational technology and reliable longevity.

Based on these criteria,

the Haier Monoblock Heat Pump Water Heater

presents a compelling solution for the modern home.

1. Seamless Installation and the Indoor Space Gain

A major reason Auckland homeowners choose the Monoblock is to reclaim valuable space currently taken up by an indoor cylinder.

By moving the system completely outside, you get that space back for storage or renovation.

The Monoblock design simplifies the outdoor unit installation compared to split systems:

Integrated Unit: The single, integrated Monoblock unit (tank and pump combined) requires only standard plumbing and electrical connections, with no extra refrigerant piping to be done on site.

Reality Check: From Inside to Outside

It's important to know that most people moving their cylinder from inside to outside will require new pipework to be run to the Monoblock location.

The Benefit: While this involves new plumbing, the Monoblock design means the plumber only needs to run the simple hot and cold water lines and a new power cable—they do not need to run gas lines or

specialised refrigerant lines, making the full conversion process as efficient as possible. The result is gained internal space and a cleaner, quicker overall switch.

2. Proven Financial & Energy Efficiency

A driver for selecting a heat pump system is cost reduction.

Significant Savings: Research indicates a 69% to 79% reduction in the electricity required to heat the same volume of water compared to a standard electric cylinder.

This efficiency directly and predictably lowers household power costs.

3. Reliable Cold-Climate Performance

A common concern in colder regions like Canterbury is whether a heat pump will maintain performance in winter. The Haier Monoblock is engineered to address this directly.

Expansive Range: The unit's operating limit spans from -7 to 45 degrees Celsius ambient air temperature

This wide thermal range ensures the system remains efficient and functional during deep winter frosts.

4. Advanced Smart System Integration

The Monoblock includes built-in Wi-Fi connectivity via the SmartHQ™ app, enabling sophisticated energy management.

Smart Energy Use: Allows heating cycles to be scheduled for off-peak power times or to leverage surplus solar energy (PV function), ensuring you heat water when power is cheapest or essentially free.

Acoustics & Home Comfort: Operating at a low noise level of approximately 43dBA at 1 metre, the outdoor unit operates quietly, which is critical when installed near living spaces.

Eco loans (or green loans) in NZ are specialized, low-interest financing offered by major banks (ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank, Westpac) to fund energy-efficient home upgrades. These loans typically support improvements like solar panels, batteries, insulation, and heat pumps, with options for up to $50k to improve home comfort and reduce energy costs.

Top Brass Plumbing can make the whole process easier — from advice, to quote, to professional installation.

Many NZ banks now offer green home-loan top-ups for energy-efficient upgrades, and hot-water heat pumps are commonly eligible.

ANZ lists heat pump water heaters as an eligible water-heating upgrade,

ASB lists heat pump water heaters under effective water-heating solutions,

BNZ lists heat pump water heaters under water heating, and

Westpac includes heat pumps, including hot-water heat pumps.

Top Brass Plumbing can provide a clear, bank-ready quote so you can approach your lender with the right paperwork.

How the bank process usually works:

ANZ — Good Energy Home Loan
Customers can apply for an ANZ Good Energy Home Loan top-up for eligible upgrades, including heat pump water heaters.

Start by getting a quote from Top Brass Plumbing, then contact ANZ or apply through their home-loan/top-up process. ANZ’s offer is for eligible ANZ home-loan customers and normal lending criteria apply.

ASB — Better Homes Top Up
ASB customers can apply online for the Better Homes Top Up. ASB says customers need to be existing ASB home-loan customers, have the required equity, and provide a quote or invoice no more than 60 days old from a qualified professional installer. ASB’s page says the online application takes around 5–10 minutes.

BNZ — Better Future Home Loan Top-Up
BNZ customers can apply through Internet Banking by selecting Apply now, then Apply for a home loan top-up. In the BNZ app, customers tap the menu icon, choose Apply now, then Loans, then Apply for a home loan top-up. BNZ lists heat pump water heaters and solar water heaters as eligible water-heating upgrades.

Westpac — Greater Choices Home Loan
Westpac customers registered for Westpac One digital banking can apply online. Westpac says customers need a professional quote before applying, and an invoice before funds are released. The property being upgraded must be the property securing the Westpac home loan, and customers need to meet Westpac’s equity and lending criteria.
